Background for login screen grey?

After upgrading to El Capitan the background for my login screen is plain grey rather than the blurred version of my wallpaper like in Yosemite. I can't find anything in the settings to change this. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

I also experienced this today right after upgrading. I fixed it by turning file vault off. Somehow I enabled it during El Capitán setup, and my login settings changed from no auto login to login. Once I turned off file vault I didn't see a login screen at all, then I unable auto login and restarted - my login screen came back with the blurred out background.
