forgot my password on macbook Pro running Yosemite

I bought a Macbook Pro 15" and decided to sell my 13". I believe I erased it all properly and upgraded to Yosemite. It is now some months later and when I went to recharge it- to show it to prospective buyers - I have to enter a password. Needless to say I don't know what it is. Can anyone help me please? Thank you Linda
