Podcasts in playlists not syncing

I have iTunes 12.0.3.44 (on Windows 8.1) and an iPod nano on software version 1.0.4.

Ever since I updated to this version of iTunes, podcasts which are in playlists do not sync to my iPod. In other words they do not appear in the playlist on the iPod after I've done a sync. There used to be a little tick box in the settings somewhere to allow you to do this, but I can't find it any more. Can anyone help?
