Q: Bluetooth - new iPhone 6s won't pair with 13" Macbook Pro (Both Yosemite and El Capitan)

Hi,

My new iPhone 6s won't pair with my (also new) 2015 13" MBP on both Yosemite and El Capitan.

After much trial and reboots MBP recognized the 6s is around however I keep getting this Bluetooth message "Network is unavailable"

Any solution?

Yuval.

Correct, as there is no supported protocol to connect the two.

Please elaborate. Are you saying late 2015 6s and MBP bluetooth profile implementations are incompatible?!

    Here's IOS 9.x / iPhone4 & above compatibility table: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204387

My 5s had no issue pairing and it has identical bluetooth services as the 6s - below.

Strangely enough the MBP does manage to enumerate those 2 devices.

An iPhone will not pair via Bluetooth to a computer (Mac or Windows) except for personal hotspot and then only if your cellular plan supports it.

See the following for more information. https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-7722

If you are attempting to use Handoff/Continuity or AirDrop, that does involve Bluetooth but the devices are NOT paired; Bluetooth just needs to be on and the devices in range of each other. The following may help with Handoff/Continuity issues: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204678

    Hi FoxFifth,

That was really helpful - thanks! It seems Continuity works between my MBP now & 6s e.g. Facetime / Calls.

Any idea why my "Handsoff" button is disabled and won't change while I can set my "Installed Apps" On/Off ?

    what are the implications?

I haven't heard of that happening. The only thing I can think of that you might try is a restart.
