I would love to reuse a nice case, I previously used with my iPad mini, with the new iPad mini 4. The wake/sleep position is however changed. Does anybody knows where it can be located in the new mini? I tried with the only magnet I have at home (a guitar pickup…) without finding anything.

Probably because no one knows the answer. I'd ask the folks at your nearest Apple Store.

Not usually. Sometimes if there is a special issue, engineers will look for posts on the matter and contact folks. But they don't read here to answer questions.
Perhaps you can check with this 3rd party website that dabbles in this type of stuff....
