How can I keep iMovie from automatically fading my audio clips in and out

2 questions:

How can I keep iMovie from automatically fading my audio clips in and out? I already know about dragging the little handles in at each end of the clip. But even when my fades are set to 0, my audio still fades. On some of my projects it does this and on some it doesn't, and I cannot find and reason for this or how I can change it.

Also, when I put 2 audio clips right next to each other, the 2nd one fades in while the 1st one is playing. I don not want it to to this and can't find any way to change this either. I just want the 2nd clip to begin right when the 1st one stops, like how you'd think it logically would. Any idea how I can fix these issues?
