Memory is full and cannot open Finder
The memory is full on the MacBook, but I cannot open Finder or other apps to remove files and clear up memory. Any suggestions?
MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2012), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

Restart in Safe Mode. To enter safe mode, restart the computer and immediately after the chime hold the shift key until you see the Apple logo.
