Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
I typed up a message in Mail, and BCC-ed about 30 people yesterday. When I sent it out, using hotmail, the mail was sent with all the addresses in the "to" field.
I did a few tests after, and it seems everytime I "bcc-ed" using hotmail, the same thing would happen. When I tried using gmail, the addresses were hidden in the BCC field as expected.
Has anyone else had this issue and is there any resolution?

I thought this odd, so I tested in MS Entourage (don't use Apple Mai.app)
It does not seem it ti on the Hotmail end (which was my first inclination - BCCs are common SPAMmer tactics) - my tests went through fine = NO TO:s at all.
I know a Mail "expert" and will ask her to take a look here.

Thanks CCC, but I think it's a simple issue. There was no recipient in the "to" box.

I am conflicted (and/or need more coffee)
BCC should NEVER be displayed - that's the whole idea = all the recipients don't see the others.
I guess that you need to clarify which is now the case?
So I typed the names into BCC, but left the TO field blank.
When the message went out and I looked in sent items, the hotmail server saw the blank "To" field and took all the addresses from the BCC field and put them in the TO field.
Let's think this thru...

Makes sense.
To be clear, my mail client - MS Entourage 2008 v.12.3.6(130206) does the 'insertion' before it leaves the Outbox and finally lands in the Sent Items - thus negating the need for the SMTP server to do so.
Therefore, I cannot force the "live.com" server to "see what happens" to a mail I send w/ no TO: recipient. ;(
