Bcc for Hotmail account in Mail

I typed up a message in Mail, and BCC-ed about 30 people yesterday. When I sent it out, using hotmail, the mail was sent with all the addresses in the "to" field.

I did a few tests after, and it seems everytime I "bcc-ed" using hotmail, the same thing would happen. When I tried using gmail, the addresses were hidden in the BCC field as expected.

Has anyone else had this issue and is there any resolution?

Wait... you said:

When I sent it out, using hotmail, the mail was sent with all the addresses in the "to" field.

THEN you now say:

Thanks CCC, but I think it's a simple issue. There was NO recipient in the "to" box.

Still need the coffee though.

I am conflicted (and/or need more coffee)

BCC should NEVER be displayed - that's the whole idea = all the recipients don't see the others.

I guess that you need to clarify which is now the case?

Let's think this thru...

  • No TO: recipient(s) in original composition
  • SENT ƒ 'saved' message has
    • all BCCs transferred for you in Mail
    • my sending account INSERTed FOR me in Entourage
  • this is NOT Hotmail doing this, but rather the Mail clients

Try this (shouldn't have to, but hey - whaddayagonnado?)

  • Put your own sending account in the TO: field
  • put BCCs in
  • send
  • What happens then?
