Does anyone know how to get wi fi on an I pod

Assuming you have an iPod Touch: on the main or "home" screen tap "settings." The 2nd option down (under "Airplane Mode") is "WiFi." Tap that and choose a network. If there is no network listed then there is no wifi available in the area you happen to be in.

What do yo mean by "when I'm on the go "?

To use Netflix and some other apps you need an internet connection. The iPod can only connect to the internet via wifi.

it uses cellular connection to the internet and yo connect to the device like any wifi network

You shouldn't watch movies while driving. And you will still need a portable modem.

As I said in my first reply and other have said you need a device that connects to cellular towers for an internet connection and acts like a wifi hotspot/network.

Some phones allow you to share their cellular connection via wifi
