Philips Hue - Homekit sharing

Hi,

I'm currently implementing my new Philips Hue bridge version 2 with Homekit support.

Everything is working very nice on my iCloud account on all my devices. iPad, iPhone and apple watch.

So I would like to share my homekit device with my girlfriend. No problem because you can share

it either via Homekit in settings or via the Hue app.

When the invitation is send and she accepts we still get the respons from siri that she can't find any

devices. We tried resetting everything, reinstalling the app but all with the same results.

Is this still a bug or did I overlook something?

Thanks for your help!

Kind regards,

Georges

Hi,

I tried to duplicate steps but now My wife controls hue and I cannot control it. On step 5, I don't see an option to login into hue app into a different account. App seems to connect bridge then it pairs to siri. Maybe you can explain what you mean by different account? my wife has different apple account.

If anyone else has a solution, otherwise would have to wait for update from philips hue.

1. Secondair device settings -->Homekit--> change--> Remove all homes

I thnk you deleted all homes on your primairy and secondairy device you only needed to remove the secondairy user insite homkit

Maybe you can explain what you mean by different account? my wife has different apple account.

Your wife has a different apple account and you also need to make a Philips hue account with the same apple id mail adress.

So know Primairy & Secondair device settings -->Homekit--> change--> Remove all homes

Then follow my steps again.

Yes, I was able to solve the problem and now my wife is able to use the siri voice control to control our hue lights.

Here is what I did, hope it helps you.

1) I powered my phone off for a few minutes, then powered it back on.

2) While my phone was powered off, I removed HomeKit from my wifes phone and signed her out of her iCloud account.

3) I signed her back into iCloud, but did not turn on the iCloud keychain.

4) I resent the HomeKit invitation, we accepted the invitation on her device

5) Turned on iCloud Keychain.

6) Tested siri voice control on my wlife's device, and all seemed to work fine.

Hi,

I had the same problem...I wanted to use Hue Siri on my Iphone and Ipad. After setting it all up from my Iphone I couldnt get the Ipad to work.

I solved it doing this:

- I deleted Homekit from my Ipad.

- Then I still couldn't invite myself on the Ipad. So I added a second email address to my own contact information.

- I invited myself via that second email address.

Then the invitation did pop up on my Ipad and the right homekit was added.....now i am able to control Hue via Siri on my Ipad as well (just the right scenes didnt appear, but that is a thing i can easily fix manually).

I hope this will help some of you as well.

Good luck!

Ann

HI. i think the Second Email is not necessary.. If you have the same I'd on both devices it usually is sufficient if you are connected with one device. On the second device hk will be installed automatically. I had similar problems to begin with. I deleted hk On both devices and conne my iPhone with the bridge. Automatically hk appe on my iPad.

what I haven't figured out so far: I succesfully invited my wife's iPhone, but I could not invite her on the iPad. Which is somewhat logic, because she already accepted on her iPhone?

Did you ever get this to work? You have to reset HER settings for HomeKit.

You won't see it in the main settings menu. You have to go into the privacy settings of whoever you want to share with. Once there, you'll find homekit. Click it, then you'll see an option to reset it.

Before you do that, cancel any invitations/delete her sharing information from your homekit menu in settings.

Once you reset the other family member's phone, you can then send another invitation and it'll work. I waited about 15 minutes before sending it just so I could make sure the changes went through the cloud.

Make sure you don't reset your homekit information or you'll find yourself needing to set everything up again.

OK,

I managed to get this working. On the original phone which you set up hue to work with SIRI, you add another user to your home kit (user2). User2 accepts.

However User2 still cannot use siri for the lights or scenes. So User 2's phone, go to home kit settings, click edit - then remove the current home setting (not the shared one) you have (as this appears to cause a conflict). So all you should now see in the HomeKit setting for User2 is the shared 'Home'.

Siri should now obey you.

It seems that everyone using a shared homekit needs their own icloud account!! That was the only way to get my ipad and wifes phone to share. However even though siri can run a shared scene she still gives me an error message "mmm, I'm having trouble enabling your master bedroom scene. Try checking your devices." The scene runs fine but no matter what scene I run it runs correctly but Siri states the same error message.
