Request feedback on modem/router upgrade...

New to Mac and found out quickly on the phone with Apple that my router wasn't sufficient wifi. So connected direct from Time Warner modem. Works fine.

Thinking of buying new router/modem combo. Currently getting speeds from TW modem (scientific atlantic DPX2100) of 23.3 mbps (download) and 2.3 (upload).

My plan "Extreme" is "up to 30mbps". Is it worth upgrading the modem or just get a better router?

Looking at a Netgear AC1750 dual band wireless router/modem combo. Seems very versatile with 5 ports etc.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Looks good. It support the new AC band which the 2014 Mini also supports.

I say it does. Before about 6 months ago my router only supported 5 GHz N and was faster than 2.25 GHz routers. However, I got a tri-band LinkSys router that also supported AC and I have faster wifi connection.
