Looks like a hardware problem. I would have the Genius Bar look at it.
Yes I guess I have to have it swapped. Have to drive to apple store, which is not very far but still, I have to arrange several hours...
But what I am worrying is if this happen again, it would be out of warranty.
Apple will give you a 90-day warranty after service or what is left of your original warranty. Whichever is longer.
I just got phone replaced in August, a white boxed one but made in early August (checked production date with SN number). So I hope if it happens, it better to be with in 3 months... Thanks for info.
You're welcome. If you just got it replaced last August, chances are you received a refurbished one which is still under the same one-year warranty. If that is the case, your warranty will expire next August no matter how many times it gets serviced.
It would be great if Apple honors a whole year for my replacement. BTW, yesterday I found the camera was good again. I made an appointment with the store. Not sure if I should go there as I can no longer show them the problem. BTW, as suddenly both front/rear cameras show the same symptom, it made me think it was actually not the CMOS itself, but rather software issue...
Again, as my original warranty expires in just 30 days, I really hope the issue either never show up, or show up immediately. I should have gone to Apple store immediately when the problem started. Maybe at a later time I can use this post as proof to show that the problem actually started within warranty time 🙂
Thanks for all help!
