Can I revert to the pre XP smb in El Capitan, so I can scan frfom a Xerox 7545 through the network?

I setup Network scanning on a Xerox 7545 printer using SMB. All of the scan to PCs work fine. The Macbook Pro has EL Capitan and doesn't work. I found the SMB version is new in the Mac and not compatible with the Xerox's old version of SMB. Is there a way to revert back to the older SMB like you can in Lion?
