Hello all,
In the Airport Utility under wireless options, there is a specific tick box for 5GHz, along with the ability to give it a specific name? What is it for? I have the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz set to automatic. I have an Airport Extreme 2tb Time Capsule by the way.
I ask because there a couple of apps on my Apple TV that tend to buffer, whilst most others don't and play just fine.

The tick box is so you can name the 5ghz differently to 2.4ghz and force a connection..
Both bands operate all the time anyway.. but if you set it to a different name.. the computer or device can select to join the 5ghz which is often faster albeit poorer signal.

So, in your opinion if I was to tell Apple TV to connect to the 5ghz signal then it would help with the buffering?
As long as the TC is in range it is much faster than 2.4ghz. But the only way to tell is give it a try.. 5ghz is faster but the range is poorer.. so which will win?? Only trial and error can find out.
