How can I make Final Cut Pro use an external drive as its main storage device?

I only have 128 GB of PCI 4x SSD storage on my Macbook that I want to dedicate only to my personal and school files. I want to start a gaming youtube channel by using Final Cut Pro. I do not want FCP to use my internal storage at all, I just want it to use the storage of an external drive. How would I do this?

-Thanks in advance

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

As Tom stated... and if you're not all that familiar with FCPX, only start/use projects created within that library from the external drive. You can safely Close the library from your internal drive if you have another Library available for FCPX. FCPX will not open the Library from the internal drive again (the default Library created in your Movies folder) unless you have to delete preferences or you manually reopen the Library. An empty Library has almost negligible size.
