How do I do Split View for Spotify and Calender

I love how in El Capitan, you can utilize a split screen feature where two apps can run at the same time. However, it turns out this does not work for every app? I was trying to merge Spotify with the Calendar app, but it doesn't seem to let me do it. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
