i lost my apple tv remote. i have the apple tv remote installed on my ipad. but how can i pair my device with my apple tv? how do i input the code without the remote that i lost?

you can only do so with a remote, you can buy or borrow any apple remote and use that to pair and hand it back after
You can pair Apple TV with CiderTV app for mac without remote(But you need to reset AppleTV via iTunes app).
After that you can pair Remote app or CiderTV for ipad
Make sure your ATV has the latest software update. But mine (ATV 4) pretty much automatically linked to my iPhone. You go to the Settings and look for Devices. I turned my Remote on my iPhone and it sort of just showed up.
