Lock Screen Frozen

My iPod's screen is frozen. On the lock screen. I can't slide to unlock and slide to reboot. What should I do?

Try:

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

- Try another cable

- Try on another computer

- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

sounds a little like guesswork. I have an iPhone 5 w/ frozen lock screen, can't swipe to unlock or answer a call. Can close with sleep button and it will work the second time - but that means to wake the phone I have to hit home, hit sleep, then hit home again, then swipe. and forget about answering a call. restarting phone does not help. restored IOS from scratch (without restoring my data or apps from backup) - same problem. Genius bar is stumped, again all they have is guesses (or maybe just buy a new phone, helpful).

it's not a hardware problem because when unlocked, all regions of the screen respond normally.
