My existing spreadsheets are gone from "Numbers" now that I have downloaded the latest OS on my iPad Air. I tried tapping Cloud in settings but that didn't help

I downloaded the latest OS offered for my iPad Air and now my existing spreadsheets on "Numbers" app have disappeared. I tried clicking on Use iCloud in settings but they are still not there.

iPad Air, iOS 9.0.2
