There has been an update in the app store on my mac for a few weeks. it is an update for iPhoto, which is not in Yosemite. Qhen I click on the update button message comes back "unavailable". please can someone out there tell me how this update can be removed from my mac.

Do you by chance have a backup drive connected to your iMac that could have the iPhoto application on it? If the external drive isn't excluded from Spotlight indexing then applications on the backup drive may show up as needing an update. I've had this issue in the past.
