why does safari lose its extensions?

Why does Safari lose its extensions every time I quit the application? The application is completely unusable, so I have to resort to Google Chrome--it doesn't have this problem.

Delete “Safari Extensions List” stored in Keychain Access.

Launch Spotlight from the menu bar and enter keychain in the search bar.

Double click highlighted Keychain Access entry under “TOP HIT”..

Keychain Access window will l open up.

Unlock it, if you have to.

Click the lock at the top left corner, give Administrator name and password.

Enter “extensions” in the search box at the top right corner.

When “Safari Extension List” shows up, highlight it, right click on it and choose Delete “Safari Extensions List”.

Quit Keychain Access.

Might be a corrupt .plist.

Do a backup, preferably 2 backups on 2 separate drives.

Quit the application.

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Safari/Extensions/Extensions.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.

Restart the computer, open the application, and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.

If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.
