I cant figure out how to restore my macbook

I have a macbook pro from late 2011, I recently updated my software to OS X El Capitan. I also installed an app called MacKeeper. Since then everything on my computer has been working very poorly. All I want to do is restore my hard drive to erase all of the content I have on it and start from scratch.
