Thanks for your answer. I didn't know the difference between the original 2Rx16 PC2-6400S-666 (1GB), and the 1R x 8 PC2-6400S-666 (2GB)replacement chips. I put them in and it sees the additional memory, and I've been using the MacBook for a couple of hours and everything seems fine. I guess the Rx16 or x8 are talking about the IC chips and not a different memory addressing scheme.
Yes, I think you're right.
Remember this thread when you start having kernel panics. And hold on to your original ram to put back in when that happens.
