lost text msgs - where are back up files on pc?

i lost my iphone 5c and am using an old iphone 3 updated with ios6 software. All my text messages have disappeared - is there any way to get them from a back up on my PC? I backed up my iphone 5 not long ago but no idea where the back up files are? thanks
