What is the iTunes sync error message (-39); I cannot sync my iPod classic.

I am attempting to sync my iPod Classic in iTunes.

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad Ultrabook, running Windows 10. The PC has an Intel Core i5 processor with 1TB of internal memory

Each time I attempt to sync my iPod, I receive the following error message:

iTunes

"The iPod 'sydney' cannot by synced. An unknown error occurred (-39)."

My only option is to select "OK".

I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes. I am able to sync my iPhone.
