establish back up disk connection

I use an external disk, a Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex for back up and it stopped connecting. Does not show in finder. Has power, lights up. Anyway to get it recognized? it has worded perfectly until failure to connect.

Thanks for any help. Don't want to have to buy a new one.
