Old photos in My Photo Stream lost when enabled iCloud Photo Library

Hi,

I had some old pics in my Photo Stream which were shared by other device. I recently lost that device. Today I enabled iCloud Photo library in my iphone and it started uploading to iCloud. But after that I saw 'upload to My Photo Stream' is disabled. Also, I am not able to see those Photo Stream pics. I guess those were removed because they are old pics. Is there anyway to recover those? A help is much appreciated.
