Get separate iCloud IDs and link them with Family Sharing. Family Sharing - Apple Support

If we do that can we still use the "Find my Phone" function. I thought they had to have the same iCloud ID

if you use find my iPhone you can at any time login to www.icloud.com and use the appleID of the phone to login and locate the device
