Apple TV

Since my last upgrade and update to the latest OS X my apple tv choice is not showing in any of my devices. How do I fix that?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Hi Winston on my 3 devices, my Mac Book Pro, my Iphone5S and my IPad2, when I was watching a video I could connect to my Apple TV and play it on my TV screen from these devices wireless. I downloaded an update today and I was able to access my music through ITUNES. I suppose the whole process is now easier as there are apps on Apple TV that you can access through Apple TV without having to use any of m devices because everything is in the "Cloud". What I am finding it out is that per example I can connect to TED directly using the APP on Apple TV. I can access to my photo stream, to my IMovies etc. I uppose there is the reason why that accessibility is no longer there. I can even access channels that I would normally access on my U-Verse-TV. The technology keeps advancing so quickly that when one is just getting comfortable with a setting there comes up something else again. For someone who is 61 years young it can be a bit disconcerting. Yet I am adapting and hoping that I get it right. Now the big question ...should I upgrade to El Capitan?

Are you referring to AirPlay...

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.

  1. Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
  2. Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
  3. Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
  4. Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
  5. Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
  6. Restart your mobile device.
