Canoscan lide 500F

Since downloading El Capitan, my Canoscan life 500f doesn't work. Canon web site says the driver, etc. is included in the operating system so they have no solution. Will this be updated in El Capitan?

In Canoscan Toolbox dialog box click "Reset" button and try scanning. It helped in my case. It is not permanent solution - reseting is necessary quite often.

This helped somewhat, and thanks. Problem is most acute when scanning multiple pages. I can get two done, but then the whirling beach ball shows up. Disconnecting and re-connecting the cord from the scanner, then going through the reset process in the dialogue box allows me to continue the scan job I started.

This is still not an ideal solution and I would love to hear whether APPLE will support the Canoscan Lide 500F (a perfectly fine machine for my purposes which worked fine prior to El Capitan) before I have to invest in a new scanner.

APPLE?????

I aslo have a CanoScan LiDE 500F. I think this change in OS X makes more damage than good. A lot of high quality hardware will by force be made obsolete long before its expected end of life. In other words, killed.
