I am trying to set up my time machine to back up my MacBook Pro and iMac. I have to do it using USB cord because ATT setup doesn't allow for it. Can someone direct me to instructions on this? We were not able to get it done through the Apple Support though he was very diligent in trying to get it to work through the wireless

If you’re backing up to a regular external drive, use Time Machine normally.
If you’re backing up to a Time Capsule, you must use Ethernet or wireless. Its USB port is for printers and standalone drives, not to hook up a computer to it.

I don't understand how AT&T comes into this question.
If you are doing to a USB drive that is connect directly to your Mac. So AT&T does enter into that.
If you are doing it with Time Capsule that will be using either your wired or wireless network so once again no AT&T.
If that is not correct , please provide more details to clarify what you are attempting to do.
SSince Apple could not hook it up with U-Verse so I could do it wirelessly I was going I could directly backup using a SB connection. They worked for two hours to do it wirelessly and couldn't get it tonworksi what I want to find out is if I can do it manually? When I pigged it into the computer it doesn't show up on computer.
Plug it in with an Ethernet cable and then use the Connect to Server command in the Finder’s Go menu. USB won’t work.
