SD reader el capitan

I have a late 2009 iMac and just upgraded to El Capitan. The SC card reader no longer works. The rider is not seen in Disk Utility and when I insert an SD card from my Nikon Camer, it does not mount nor does it who's up in disk Utility. I would like to understand if this is an upgrade issue and if so, when a fix will be distributed.

I have the same problem in my late 2009 21.5 iMac: after updating to El Capitan (from Mavericks) the SD Card Reader isn't working and isn't even detected (I get a message "there's no card reader installed in this computer"). I have tried using an external reader (which works fine on other devices) and it doesn't detect it either.

Any idea to solve this problem? Thank you.
