Q: Installed El Capitan, now Facetime and Photobooth show black screen.
I installed El Capitan from the App store a couple of days ago, and ever since Photobooth and Facetime no longer seem to work with the front camera.
When I open the apps, everything works but the screen stays black, the green light next to the camera doesn't go on either.
I'm running El Capitan on a late 2011 Macbook Pro 15" i7.

I had this same problem (same computer too... Late 2011 Macbook Pro 15" i7). Do a complete shut down. Then restart your Mac holding the command, option, P, and R keys all down until you hear the startup chime. Then release those 4 keys. This resetting of the PRAM did it for me. Now my PhotoBooth and FaceTime work correctly and the camera comes on.
