Oct 11, 2015 8:08 AM in response to dugshortsby Niel,Its original disk will be 10.3.3 for an early 2004 iBook and 10.3.5 for a late 2004 one; you can also use a retail Mac OS X 10.3 or 10.4 package which is newer than the indicated version, but those disks won't include Classic.

Oct 11, 2015 8:25 AM in response to Nielby dugshorts,Does the disk have to be specific for the Ibook? I have Install and Restore disks for a PowerBook G4 but they don't work. They'll start the install process but then just go into a loop of restarting the computer and go no farther.

Oct 11, 2015 8:26 AM in response to dugshortsby Niel,They either need to be specific to the iBook or a compatible retail one. A different Mac model's original disk won't work.

Oct 11, 2015 10:41 AM in response to dugshortsby BDAqua,Tiger Requirements...
To use Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, your Macintosh needs:
* A PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor
* Built-in FireWire
* At least 256 MB of RAM (I recommend 1GB minimum)
* DVD drive (DVD-ROM), Combo (CD-RW/DVD-ROM) or SuperDrive (DVD-R) for installation
* At least 3 GB of free disk space; 4 GB if you install the XCode 2 Developer Tools (I recommend 20GB minimum)

Trouble is Apple no longer sells it, check eBay & such for the Retail version, not the Gray Discs...
