Please sign out of iCloud in its preference pane. No data will be removed from the servers, and you can retrieve it by signing back in. That said, you should always have a current archive of the data for safety's sake, even if you don't sign out.
Sign back in to iCloud and test Mail.
If you use iCloud Keychain, when you sign back in to iCloud follow one of the procedures described in this support article to set it up on an additional device.

Oct 12, 2015 11:59 PM in response to Linc Davisby lancero17,★HelpfulThis seems to have helped although Incoming Server and User name are still grey. The mail appears to be sending using my correct iCloud address though which is certainly a help. Thank you
