Not in to thinking for yourself?
I'm probably more able to think for myself than most people. That's why I don't get sucked into the "fake news" hysteria. I don't need pundits of any stripe, or worse yet, politicians, to tell me what to think. I can (and do) read Fox News or the New York Times and gain valuable information from both. One of the greatest things about a good education is that it teaches you to critically evaluate source material.
I also know how to be civil. It allows me to have discussions with people who hold opinions radically different than mine without resorting to ad hominem attacks or puerile insults.
Once someone labels an entire group as evil, whether it's news outlets with which they disagree or people who belong to a different political party, they're demonstrating not that they can think for themselves but that they've lost perspective and are becoming part of a mob.
Since this thread was first started, Apple has made it possible to remove the News app from your phone:
Remove built-in Apple apps from the Home screen on your iOS device with iOS 10 and later - Apple Support
However, if you want to be a well educated citizen, you'll keep reading news of all kinds.
