El Capitan breaks 27" Display Firewire 800

Setup is as follows: Latest edition MacBook Pro 1TB/16 GB with older Thunderbolt 27" display. Third party BluRay Writer and external HD connected to Display Firewire 800 (daisy chained). This has worked well through Mountain Lion and Yosemite and allows the one connector when it's time to be portable.

Once I installed El Capitan - BluRay completely unreliable. Strange drive errors, freezes, reboots - general mayhem. Reset SMC/PRAM. Cable swaps, drives reordered. Same result.

Connect BluRay to Firewire adapter directly on MacBook Pro Thunderbolt port - works great. Connect BluRay to USB 3.0 on MacBook Pro - works great.

Posting mainly to inform Apple of driver issues in El Capitan. If anyone has found a workaround - any help is appreciated. Using USB 3.0 on the MacBook Pro for now... More cables to unplug, but am working anyway...
