Why is my activity app on my iPhone empty?

I've been loving my Watch for the past month that I had it. The activity notifications have been great.

I got a new iPhone 6S last week, and the Activity app is empty, as if my phone has synced zero of the data from my Watch!

I tried to messing around with the settings on both, and even unpaired and paired the 2. Everything is the same as before, but the Activity app still is not syncing activity, and now I have to register my card with Apple Pay on my watch again (which is a second pain in the butt, that Apple is going to have to make friendlier if they want that to take off).

Anyone know why the Activity app has nothing in it?

Also, I noticed that the Health settings on my watch have empty parameters (for sex, height, weight, and age), and do not save when I try to change them. Not sure if that issue is related.

Try these steps:

  • Unpair your watch using the Apple Watch app:

iPhone: Apple Watch app > My Watch > General > Apple Watch > Unpair Apple Watch.

  • If this does not successfully unpair your watch, instead reset it manually:

Watch: go to the Home screen (single press on Digital Crown) > Settings (cog) > General > Reset > Erase all Content and Settings.

  • Back up your iPhone via an encrypted method.
  • Restore your iPhone from backup.
  • Pair and set up your watch, either setting it up as a new device (this has worked for another user) or restoring it from a previous backup (perhaps not the latest one).

Thanks for the respones, but I actually tried these same steps, to no avail.

I even mention it in the original post.

Your original post explained that you had tried unpairing and re-pairing your watch.

You did not mention having followed the full process suggested above, which includes resetting your new iPhone.

You may find that it is sufficient to set up your watch as a new watch (although the full process has resolved the same issue for another user).

I'm having the same exact problem after getting my 6S plus. After months of Activity usage, no data will show on the new phone. Tried restoring, setting up as a new watch, restoring ios9, repairing the watch...Nothing will work! I understand the original data won't transfer unless using an encrypted backup, but after days of the watch measuring Activity, the Activity App on the iPhone is still blank. Any other ideas??

Yeah, exactly!

I've restored my phone and watch now twice each!

Not only is old data missing, but FAR more importantly, new data isn't being logged!

Sorry you're having trouble, but I'm glad I'm not alone.

So I restored, and that didn't work, and lead to the annoying process of setting up Apple Pay again with my bank.

I just hoped it'd get patched.

Upon updating to 9.1 and watchOS 2.01, the issue has been resolved. I'm not sure if it was specifically patched or if the update process just simply fixes it incidentally.

Sadly, Apple Music has been buggy for me since 9.1.

But this issue is fixed for me.

I did find a solution prior to my genius appointment so ended up cancelling it.

The problem with no data showing up in my activity app after getting my new iPhone 6s plus had to do with the Health app on the iPhone. It seems when I paired my watch to the new phone, it didn't remove the old pairing from the source list within the Health app. The old watch pairing still showed up as a source, but clicking on it brings up the message "this iPhone is no longer connected to this device." Since only one watch can be paired to an iPhone, the new pairing wasn't being added as a Health source.

I was able to fix it by unpairing the watch, then restoring my iphone through iTunes using an unencrypted backup rather than an encrypted one. I made sure to use an unencrypted backup because it was necessary to wipe all health data. Pairing the watch to the newly restored iphone resulted in a new source being established within the Health app. And data began to sync again with my Activity app!

I wish Apple made it easier to manually remove devices from the Health app.

Let me know if this works for y'all!

Thanks Horn007 for posting your solution.

Just to make sure it is the same issue I experience here is what I see:

1. The Watch Activities app works fine and accumulate health data

2. The iPhone Activities app is stuck on the initial screen asking to set up the app on the watch.

3. In the Health app I have no Devices in the Sources tab

I am going to try your method. Did you restore to an old backup or you just took an unencrypted one and restore the phone from it?
