Q: Photos - Books missing after upgrade to El Capitan

I just upgraded to El Capitan. After reboot, Photos gave the "Cannot open. Photo database corrupted" error. I rebuilt the Photos database and my photos are back (major relief) but all the books I created are gone. Slideshows are the only items present under Projects.

I had a book project 95% complete and now it is gone with all the older book projects.

Is there a way to recover this book project from a Time Machine backup or do I just have to start over again?

If all you have is an album then the project would not migrate so you either have to finish using iPhoto 9.6.1 or redo it in Photos - How Photos handles content and metadata from iPhoto and Aperture - Apple Support

Sorry, I missed one piece of information. It was not an upgrade from iPhoto. It was an upgrade from Photos to the newest version of Photos. The book I was working on was created in the earlier version of Photos. The older books were from iPhotos books.

I was working on a deadline so I had to recreate it.

I really miss all the functionality lost from iPhoto. Sorting by ratings saved me so much time in deleting unwanted photos.

Try restoring your Photos library from before you upgraded and upgrade the library again
