Apple Pay - double-click Home Button does not bring wallet

Try restarting (or, if that doesn't work, force restarting) your iPhone:

Restart: press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears; drag the slider to turn your iPhone off; when it has finished turning off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.

Force restart: press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home button for around 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

Some banks require that you verify your card through them before they will allow their cards to be used in this service. Open up the wallet app and click on verify and it usually will provide you with the telephone number of your bank. A representative will help to activate your Apple Pay using that particular card.

So, this is an old post so I'm saying this in case anyone else searched but didn't find the answer, like me ....
I added my card to apple pay, verified with my bank and used apple pay by waiting for my debit card to appear automatically on my screen during checkout. I didn't want to add my finger print and was happy to enter my password each time I needed to use it, but I wanted to get my card ready to pay faster by double tapping the home key. Nothing happened when I double clicked the home button. NOTHING. I tried restarting, turning off and on, research leading to the same advice ...
So out of curiosity, I gave in and added my finger print and hey presto, double tapping the home key brought up my debit card 😐 So, you MUST add your finger print for the double tap home button apple pay screen to appear.

Tap Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay then switch Double-Click Home Button off then back on then restart your iPhone.

Then press the Home button twice.

Just tried it myself. It does not recall Apple pay unless the wallet/app is opened. Then it works.when you double click on a lock-screen
