Would appreciate some help please ... I was trying to erase the settings on my iphone 4. It requested the restrictions passcode. I entered it wrong several times, as it came back as # failed attempt. When I finally realized what it was on attempt #6, it still considered it as a failed attempt and came back with a set time to try again. I've tried it four more times at the requested different time intervals (usually 15 minutes or 60 minutes later) and it still doesn't work. What do I need to do to get the iphone to accept the passcode or reset the passcode? Thanks very much for your advice.

iPhone 4, iOS 7.1.2

Thanks for your prompt and helpful response. That's not exactly the answer I was looking for because I did figure out my passcode. but it wouldn't accept it. Likely reason for the device blocking me is that I tried too many times. Anyway, I did some research on apple support's manual links and came across this topic to solve my problem: "Use iTunes to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings When you restore your iOS device or iPod to factory settings, you'll also install the latest version of software. You can then set up your device as new, or restore from a backup." This worked for me.
