Thunderbird being slow (beachball)

Someone who I work with told me that after updating to El Capitan, Thunderbird slows down when they tried to open and move email messages and the spinning beachball was displayed, I have fixed this issue for now (hopefully it won't pop up again), is anyone else having this issue with Thunderbird in El Capitan?

This thread is a few months old, but let me also say thanks for showing us how to cure what had become a thoroughly exasperating problem with Thunderbird. Where, whatever I did in Thunderbird, I'd have to wait for a few seconds for the spinning beachball to stop spinning. Now that I have disabled the "Global Search and Indexer", that problem is GONE. I take it that the purpose of the Global Search and Indexer is for efficient searches of e-mails, such that every word is indexed. But what a PIA. Of course, that Global Seach was just included in recent versions of Thunderbird, and defaulted to "enabled", so the problem seemed to just appear out of thin air.

I was so happy to find this thread... I only wish the fix worked for me 😟

I'm switching back to mac after 5 years away... avid TB user... but TB on os x seems terrible! Granted I've got 6+ GB of inboxes, but on Windows it was a non-issue. Not sure what I'm going to do... cannot handle seeing that ball spin every time I just go to switch a folder!
