iBooks Author and El Capitain

Try opening the app and then loading your book. Don't load both at once. I think there's a bug, but this usually works--but not always.

Today it didn't work for me either.

Now it seems as though Author works okay if I open it and just wait for 5-10 minutes to do anything.

Try holding the shift key down when you open Author. This opens an app without its caches. Applies to any app running on El Capitan.

I have this problem too. It is somewhat dismaying to see so many problem reports but only occasionally an acknowledgement from Apple. Now, if holding the shift key on start prevents a cache from loading, why is this suddenly necessary, is the cache really needed, and when are we going to get a fix?

I think that this is a general El Capitan problem. I learned about holding the shift key down while being tech-supported for trouble with Mail. Mail wouldn't open or wouldn't show me the Message Viewer if it did open. I'm hoping there'll be a bug-fix release of El Capitan pretty soon.

And I can't see that loading without the cache takes anything away from me. I'm not clear on what the cache is supposed to be doing.

It's impossible work on my written books ... the program starts, but the opened book is ... untouchable 😟 ... it will start a sequence of blocks & unblocks ...

Marco, a great loss of time, but … it works, thanks for the suggestion. I hope Apple will make something soon for this malfunctioning!
