Through the helpful resources of Apple Care and some minor trial and error, I found the answer to this issue.
If you are a subscriber to Apple
Music (like I am) and your music library is “synced” in the cloud, to add
additional .mp3 files to your smart device, do the following:
- Copy your .mp3 file
to the location of your iTunes music library on your computer (i.e.
F:\Music\Music\Insight for Living)
- Connect your device
via USB to your computer.
- Make Sure you have a
recent backup of your device – either locally on your computer or on iCloud.
- On your iPhone go
into Settings and scroll down to, “iCloud Music Library” and turn it off –
slide to right to change from green to gray. Note: Doing so will
remove all downloaded iTunes music to the device, but that is ok, because when
you re-sync your device later these items will be restored on the device.
- In iTunes, select
your device and under “Settings”, select the Music icon.
- Under Artists on the
right panel, select IFL
- Click the Sync
button at the bottom of the screen and your music/mp3 files will be updated on
your device
- When completed, On
your iPhone go into Settings and scroll down to, “iCloud Music Library” and
turn it on – slide to left to change from gray to green.
- You will be prompted
to “Replace” or to “Merge” your library. Choose “Merge” and the files you
just synced will be included in your library on your device.
- Library will begin
to be updated. This may take some time depending on how many songs/mp3
files you previously downloaded.
That’s it and it worked
perfectly with my device. I hope this is helpful for you.
