Q: iOS 4.3.5 error 9 when updating to 9.0.2

HI, sure you found the right BETA3 version?

I had an IPAD 2 with firmware 4.3.5., not jailbraked or modded, iTunes said it could be updated to 9.2 but that only lead to a fault and a black pad!

1. With the old but good "blackrain" I made it reboot again to normal

2. Searched for the LATEST beta for the iPad (Beta3 and GSM. For (Sweden) its the GSM model of firmware not the CDMA

3. Then It was just as always to Start iTunes, hold "SHIFT"key on the keyboard on my Win10 while clicking Restore, choose the xxx-Restore.ipsw file and wait until it updated and then It was up and worked again.

If you get any 3194 its in my opinion always a sign that you try to load an version that is NOT the latest

I recently purchased a 2nd hand iPad2 (A1396) running iOS4.3.3, from a local computer shop.

He thought it was something dead on the mainboard, as it was stuck on the 'connect to itunes' screen.

Ran ReiBoot, and returned it to running again.

Downloaded the 9.3 beta (iPad2,2_9.3_13E5200d_Restore.ipsw)

Restore using iTunes. (On PC, hold 'shift' when clicking 'restore', then select downloaded file) PC users will have to rename the extension from .zip to .ipsw

There are a few tutorials on the net to easily do this.

Restore on iTunes took about 10mins (the file is approx. 1.5Gb)

Went from iOS4.3.3 to iOS9.3

Will test for awhile and see if I need to go back to iOS9.2, as iOS9.3 is currently beta, but for now it is updated and running, so I'm pretty happy with that.

Also, this was done using an aftermarket cable, that is approx. 2 meters long, so it is not a cable issue, as everyone one on here is aware.

And you should find it fairly easily.

I am using IPAD 2 (i am not sure about the ios its 4.3.X) GSM and I keep getting different kind of error since the first time I've tried to update and I can not use the ipad now.

when trying to upgrade to 9.3 beta 5 using shift+restore while the ipad 2 is in DFU mode I get the error: 3194. (checked host, the firewall is off)

I am really frustrated been working on it for a while.. tried also a different PC.

I also got this to work to fix my wife's iPad 2 which I trollied upgrading it to 9! Thanks to everyone who posted in the thread! I will share my experience from today (after banging my head against this one on and off for about 2 months!).

I finally fixed by clicking Restore (with shift held down on my windows 7 PC to get it to prompt you to pick the IPSW file) and selecting a file I downloaded corresponding to beta  "iPad2,1_9.3_13E5191d_Restore.ipsw", If you happen to try the 13E5181d version mentioned earlier in this thread (?) you will probably get an error which links to support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201442

If you see Error 3194, Error 17, or ‘This device isn‘t eligible for the requested build‘ in iTunes"

I think what this error message actually means is that "the version you tried to install is no longer signed and no longer eligible to be installed on an iPad". In fact I got this when I tried a whole bunch of IPSWs from version 4, 5, and 8! So if you try 191d and get it, it probably means that there is a newer version somewhere out there.

You also need to ensure that you get the correct version for your iPad (so mine is 2,1 a WiFi iPad 2):

If you put a version like 2,2 on it you will get a message telling you it isn't compatible for your device.

Good effort to Apple for not getting the upgrade to 9 to work for very old machines in the first place, not coming clean about it and not having their "Geniuses" know about it (one also told me it was a hardware fault that the upgrade process had discovered even though the machine had been working fine beforehand). I suspect that my wife now won't buy an iPhone as this has re-enforced her opinion that Apple are rubbish. People get flack for not upgrading their machines but it is experiences like this one that cause people to be reluctant in the first place.

I was able to fix my ipad showing error 9.  i went to app store and made sure all updates were completed for my macbook pro.

I restarted my laptop, reset by ipad 2 . i connected to itunes and tried to do a restore. Restore worked and i set it up as a new ipad. After the completion, my ipad was on ios version 9.3,

Itunes version used 12.3.3, Mac OS version Yosemite 10.10.5,

The IOS 9.3 fix the problem .

How do you down grade because 9,3 and now 9.3.1 are both not letting me go into icoud

have you or anyone else tried to upgrade from the 9.3 beta to 9.3.1 after going from 4.1.3 IOS to 9.3?

I have Ipad 2 that I upgraded finally from 4.1.3 to 9.3 beta. Everything seems to be working fine now but apple keeps pushing for the new upgrade and I want to maximize its speed and ability since its old.

I don't understand and want to be clear. I am running 9.3 beta that I Updated via IPSW from 4.1.3, what will happen if I update from beta to the 9.3.1? I dont want to brick it again because it works great right now but I have heard the beta can be unstable.

I have experienced this problem for months, at beginning, my iPad2 failed to upgrade from iOS8.?, then it totally failed to boot up. It always failed in the phase of "Doing Certification with Apple" (translated) .

I did all the suggestions on Apple's official help document. For example, to change usb cables, upgrade iTunes, upgrade OS of MacBook Pro,...none of them works. And eventually,  in iTunes 12.4.3.1 (the most updated version now), it seems that there is no option to install local IPSW files any more.
