Q: iOS 4.3.5 error 9 when updating to 9.0.2

Dear Mac Experts,

 

I've been having issues updating my cousin's old iPad 2 WiFi (MC979ZP) from 4.3.5 to 9.0.2. I keep having Error 9 whether I use DFU or any other method. Apart from that, Apple has also stopped signing all versions of Firmware prior to 9.0.2, therefore any older firmware is unusable (Error 3194 without fix even using System32). I was also trying firmware 8.4.1 and older firmware.

 

By the way, I've tried many different original cables and many different computers, both Mac and Windows, including the garbage bin.

 

According to Apple's HQ, this could be an "Untested Issue with latest iTunes and iOS9 having a negative effect on very old versions of iOS being upgraded to iOS9".

 

I'm writing here to seek help from you, if there is any other solution to this issue, and also to hopefully notify Apple's Support on this issue and hope they will fix it on their next version of iTunes.

    Hi,

    Same pb.

    A student brought me an old iPad 2 in 4.3.3 iOS version. I try to update but... error 9

    I try to restore an old version with an ipsw in 4.3.5, 5.0.1, 5.1.1, 8.3 but in each try, error message, ipsw not compatible with this iPad :-(

    Perhaps, try with an old version of iTunes ?

    I want to connect to this issue. I have a version of iOS 4.3.2 on iPad 2. The device self just a few days. I tried updating the device to version iOS 9.2 beta 3 - without success. I think that the issue will be on iTunes. During the update, I am running Reiboot. Just before the fall Reiboot reports that I approve computer connection. Perhaps this would be enough to ignore the problem would be solved. Sorry for my bad English. (translated in Google Translate CZE)

    Same problem here, no way to upload an iPad with IOS 4 to IOS 9.

     

    Very disappointed about that, with IOS 4 it´s not possible to install about 90% of app / games from appstore, and an ipad without app is quite useless.

    I'm afraid that Apple just want to push us to buy a new iPad...

    I try to update with custom ipsw files and an old iTunes app. Returns to this discussion after.

    HI all,

     

    I have an ipad 3rd generation. I also upgraded to ios 9.1 and now having the same problem, apple logo restarts again and again. I have tried everything. Pressing home --sleep bottom for 1 hour, used itunes to restore (error 9), plugin plug out,...but no avail. I gave up after two days of my determination and finally decided to approached iCare. I told them my problem and their answer was anticipated as "There is a problem in logic board and we cannot fix it". They gave me one and only option to exchange it with new one (by paying $$). I said "no its ALRIGHT" and left.

    I really hope apple will look in this issue. And btw way when i talked with the technician there, he mumbled with his friend saying that the issue is same error 9. So, i guess, lots of people are facing this problem.

    Ich habe auch seit 3 Tagen ein Ipad2 GSM ios 4.3.5 und das Updaten auf ios 9 ich bekomme auch den den Fehler 9.

    Habe verschiedene Kabel benutzt und PC führten zu keinen Erfolg.

     

    Ich hoffe Appel nimmt sich das Problem an.

    Wenn es ein Lösung Ansatz gäbe würde er hier stehen.

    Ich versuche auch wieder an eine Lösung zu Basteln.

    Tested with current and older (v 10) iTunes, problem is always the same cannot upgrade from iOS 4.3.3 to 9.1. Read that Apple also still signs iOS 6.1.3 BUT only for OTA updates which are not possible with iOS 4.x. So doing an update to iOS 6.1.3 first is not possible as far as I know.


    As Apple still supports iPad 2 with current iOS, they should fix the problem. I opened a bug report and you should also, if not yet done.

    Ich habe das selbe Problem with my old ipad2 16GB Wifi ,stock on ios 4.3.5 to update on ios 9.1 with error 9, i can´t believe.

    Everything just works fine, but it isn´t updateable.

    Any Solutions?

    Hello,

     

    i wanted to update my IPAD 2 (3G) from IOS 8.4.1 to 9.1 but it crashed.

    After that the IPAD returned to IOS 4.3.5.

     

    Now i can not make any updates.....i tried everything! Itunes always brings error 9.

    i tried recovery, DFU, always the same!

     

    Why is this so? I dont understand the world any more! I only want the new IOS!

    Ich frage mich warum denn Appel dann noch für das Ipad2 noch Aktuelle IOS anbieten.

    Sie sollten doch in deer lage sein eine IOS für den Fehler raus zuhauen, am besten dann gleich eine in OTA war ja ab IOS 5 möglich.

     

    Ich habe auch schon alles Probiert alte Itunes datum zurück und manuel die IOS 5.0 und andere IOS probiert immer Fehler 9

    I wonder why then offer Appel even for the iPad2 yet Current IOS.

    You should be able deer but hew an IOS for the error out, best then equal to one in OTA 5 was indeed possible from IOS.


    I have already tried everything old Itunes date back Manuel and the IOS 5.0 and other IOS always tried Error 9

    Hello to everyone ! I just have a shock. It's very irresponsibly by apple specialist side.

    i have the same problem with ipad which stuck in iOS 4.3.3 and it's impossible to update. I'm using apple long time and it's shock that simple update - is such a huge problem. Please COME ON? WHO IS THERE? SPECIALISTS DO SOMETHING ! IT'S NOT OKAY !!!
