Q: will my mac mini work with the next OSX????
I have a mac mini that I Had to update to El Capitan because ITunes would not update and sync after updating my ipad.
Let me rephrase...in order for all my hardware to work, I updated my ipad to the latest ios but it would not sync with iTunes (Prior to iTunes 12.3), so I tried to update iTunes and it would not go because I was on 10.6.8 snow leopard. so to make it all work, I updated the mac mini to el capitan, then iTunes to 12.3 and then my ipad could finally sync to iTunes. and while doing all this my iphone6 would not update ios - indicating that it had to be on the network. But after installing el capitan, the iphone is now ready for upgrade on ios.
this is the first time I Had to jump through hoops to get this all to work and thank goodness I do computers professionally cause my Mom or someone like that on an iphone would never get this. the documentation is terrible in exposing this concern.
and now my question - my mac mini is late 2009 -
Apple :will it go out of date on the next OSX release causing me to buy hardware???
My imac is also going to be out of date possibly with the next release of OSX I fear as well and those cost big bucks....so will you Apple support my hardware when making updates to iphones cause I am very afraid my expensive hardware is coming end of life.....thanks
Mac mini, Mac OS X (10.7)

1. Apple is not here. This is a user to user forum.
2. There's no possible way anyone can answer that. Not even Apple can know ahead of time what devices will and will not support the next update, until requirements are determined, and tests are made.
3. If you "do" computers professionally, you should understand that updating an OS on a computer has no relation to what your iPhone can or cannot do to update.
The only reason you needed to update to a newer iTunes version was because it has the drivers for the newer iOS version. and since you were running an older OS, it could not take the newer version of iTunes. So yes, you were at a point were updating one device required updating several things.
But generally if you keep somewhat up to date the OSes on all your devices, this is something that should not be a problem.
As to iPhone support in the future, again its impossible to say, but the 4 year old iPhone 4s still got iOS 9, and the 4 and 1/2 year old iPad also got said update. Take from that what you will.
That pretty much beats any other device maker out there in terms of device support. Most Android devices cannot be dated past there shipping Os out of the box
But yes, all devices eventually become obsolete. Its the nature of the beast.
