Q: Are my photos backed up from iCloud onto my iMac?
I can't find any advice on Google about this, which must mean I'm not getting the point...
I'm having issues with iCloud constantly moaning that it's full. I have 4.2GB of photos and videos stored on there apparently. What I want to do is make a complete backup of all of these images and videos onto my iMac, so I know that if I delete a photo from any of my devices, its actually been kept somewhere. I'm getting really lost amongst the details of the "download originals to this mac" option in Photo's - does this mean any photo that goes across iCloud and hits my Mac is saved on there? I'm worried that if I delete the photo from my iPhone, Photos will assume I don't want it and delete it from my Mac as well.
I'm normally very tech savvy, but I'm getting completely confused by this and irrationally angry about the lack of advice from Apple on the subject. All they seem to want you to do is buy more storage, which I'm never going to do.
Thanks in advance.
Many Thanks
Oli
