When an iPhone is locked, can the WhatsApp notification be made to ring/vibrate or is it banner display only?

adjust them in Settings -> Notifications like you would any other app.
I already had. Doesn't help/work. I also have the same problem with Hangouts (but not magicJack). Something/somewhere is preventing ringing/vibrating when the iPhone is locked for (at least) these 2 apps, but not others. All are set appropriately in Settings. What do you think is happening/where (iPhone or app [Hangouts/WhatsApp])?
