Podcast Storage Mystery

With the new update, Podcast storage just seems like this mysterious storage-hungry monster that can't be contained. Right now I've got 400 mb dedicated to storing Podcasts, and I can't figure out which ones they are since *everything* is just in one big heap called "my podcasts." Everything I pick out of it just has the cloud icon showing it's stored online.

I already have the settings in place to not automatically download *anything* and delete played episodes, but there seems to be no way to browse stuff that is currently stored on my phone. The crazy / dumb part is you used to be able to do this really easily.

For cheapskates like me who only buy the 16 gb iPhone, this is awful.

Or am I just dumb and there's a way to do it after after all?

HI, cblwolf!

I guess it doesn't matter. I used version 2.4.10 (just tried the first one that showed up, with an orange battery icon). I can also see an app with an identical but green battery icon (version 7.3) in Appstore.

Yes, it's called Battery Doctor, by KS Mobile Inc (v2.4) or by Beijing Kingsoft Internet Security (v7.3).

With best regards,

I first noticed a problem when I was taking pictures and i ran out of space. seems podcast app is bugged. under normal usage iOS should free up that space, but for some reason podcast app won't let that memory go.

This solution worked great. it's basically doing the same thing as the itunes "overfill" solution.

But its so much easier than using iTunes.

I have the same issue and my iPad is full. I have now completely emptied all my podcasts. There is nothing in the Podcast app. Yet the app is using 968 MB of storage. This is unacceptable! I would delete the app and use something else, except Apple has decided that I am not allowed to delete this app whether I use it or not.

This problem is not new. iOS has been updated and the problem remain. If Apple cannot be bothered to maintain their app, then at least let me delete it.

FIX THIS NOW APPLE!

Just wanted to comment that the battery doctor worked for my iphone as well. It took running the junk clean function about 20 times, but it finally cleared the documents and data in the POS Podcast app that I no longer use. It will run sometimes and say it found nothing to remove, and then the next time it finds quite a bit. So, be patient. And, if you are a podcast listener, do not hesitate to switch to Overcast. I love it. So, so much better than Apple's app. I listen to some podcasts on 1.5 speed, and there is really no distortion. Voices sound the same, just a little sped up. Background music can get a bit wonky, but if you have a lot you enjoy, it helps keep you from getting behind. Really, everything is better, save maybe for the search function. Also, it seems there is sometimes a bit of a delay before podcasts show up in Overcast. Not by a lot. I listen to the Dan Patrick Show every week day, and I think each hour hits the Podcast app 20-30 minutes before it shows up in Overcast. Not a big deal.
